OUR ENGAGEMENTS
By prioritizing sustainability, we aim to do our part in minimizing the impact of our day-to-day business operations on the environment, in turn helping to keep both your hair and the planet healthy and happy.
Since Freyja's beginnings, we have partnered with Green Circle Salons, an organization that collects, recycles, repurposes, and recovers up to 95 percent of the resources we use.
OUR PARTNERS
Hair clipping, metals, plastics, papers, excess hair colors and PPE waste are sorted directly at Freyja and collected by Green Circle Salons. They are then dispatched throughout a network of specialized recycling, compost or recovery facilities.
Thanks to Green Circle Salons Program, in 2023 :
- 35 lbs of excess hair color was recovered into energy
- 157 lbs of metals, 50 lbs of papers and cardboards, 25 lbs of plastics and 23 lbs of PPE was recycled
- 151 Ibs of hair clippings were composted
OUR PRODUCTS
Our commitment to the environment extends to the products we carry - that's why we love Italian hair care brand, Davines. Davines offers products that harmonize both science and nature, and encourages people to be mindful of their well being, and that of the world around them. Since 2006, Davines has embarked on a path to reduce and compensate for its CO2 emissions, and supports various other projects that are globally conscious, including the slow food movement.

In 2021, we took our commitment to reducing our environmental impact a step further.
CARBON NEUTRALITY
Salon Freyja became the first in Montreal to participate in a pilot program with Green Circle Salon called The Carbon Neutral Salon Benefit in order to offset our CO2 emissions.
In 2023, the program was renewed in collaboration with Offset Alliance where we completely offset our CO2 emissions linked to our salon's energy consumption - making us Carbon Neutral Certified for our scope 2 emissions!
As part of our engagement to reduce our impact, we are measuring our scope 1, 2, 3 emissions and quantifying our carbon footprint.
OUR IMPACT
This means we assess all of our internal operations-related emissions, but also, the external emissions linked to our community, suppliers and waste generation.
For this reason, we ask all of our clients, on a voluntary basis, to share what distance they will travel and what mode of transportation they will use to travel to Freyja.
We also encourage our community to engage in more sustainable practices and to support local small businesses.
